Lieutenant General D.S. Hooda (Northern Command Chief) on Tuesday said there is no doubt that Pakistan has been interfering in Kashmir and has a direct role in what can be termed as 'proxy war' in Kashmir.

"There is no doubt in our mind that Pakistan has been interfering in Kashmir and has a direct role in what we are calling the proxy war in Kashmir. So there is no doubt in our mind.we are seeing it every day along the borders, we are seeing from the manner in which support is being given to it. We have seen how sometimes ceasefire violations along the Line of Control are actually in support of people who are infiltrating inside," Hooda made the statement while interacting with media here on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

He asserted that if there is an internal disturbance, Pakistan will directly take advantage of it.

"You have heard statements by Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba trying to say that they are supporting whatever is happening in Kashmir. It is absolute physical support and there is no doubt on that in our minds," he added.

Addressing the issue of radicalisation, Hooda said there is an increase in radicalisation, mostly driven by the social media where people are quite active.

"I think we need to do something about it. Everyone at all levels have to put their heads together and see how we can reduce this," he added.

Pointing out that there have been more infiltration attempts this year, Hooda said he doesn't see any let down in this, adding that the army is quite well-prepared to deal with it.

"I think, as there is little internal disturbance there will be attempts which are going to be made to push in more and more infiltration. We are quite well-prepared to deal with it," he added.

Hooda also pointed out that the LAC with China is peaceful.

"As far as transgressions are concerned, they do take place. But they take place only in areas where there is a differing perception of the LAC. So there are five or six pockets over that 800 km where actually these transgressions are taking place. In terms of numbers, they are on the decline," he added.
