The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disowned the post-election review report on the General Elections 2013 highlighting large scale rigging, amid doubts about the credibility of the elections, saying it was not an ECP-sanctioned report.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Tahirul Qadri said that the report admits that the State Bank of Pakistan, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) did not cooperate with the ECP.
A day after the media pointed at the post-election review report 2013, the ECP announced on a website that it disowns the report after keeping it a closely guarded secret for more than nine months.
The ECP claimed that it was a summary of the recommendations received from various internationcal and domestic holders, various stakeholders, polling staff and the general public.
According to Dawn News, the report was authored by a 15 member committee that was headed by ECP ECP Additional Secretary Syed Sher Afgan.
The statement from ECP stated that the report's purpose was to identify improvement areas based on observations made during elections.
The ECP said that the report on 2013 general elections is yet to be published and would be released shortly.
