The reinstatement of Mohammad Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly been challenged by the Nawaz Sharif-led Pakistani government before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) has filed a petition challenging the IHC's decision to re-install Ashraf as the PCB chairman.

According to The Dawn, the petition, which was filed by 13 people including former interim chairman Najam Sethi, was considered null and void on behalf of Asma Jahanagir, the former UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, arbitrary and summary executions.

The court should reinstate the decision of Zaka Ashraf's removal as PCB chairman, the petitioner added.
