Pak govt denies initiating action against Musharraf in treason case

The Pakistan Government had not initiated any action against former president Pervez Musharraf, but had merely submitted its reply to the Supreme Court, minister for Information and broadcasting has said.

Pervaiz Rashid said the government would fulfill its obligations under the Constitution.

He added that the law of the land would take its own course and the government would fully cooperate with the courts.

According to the Daily Times, he called apprehensions of former army chief General (retired) Aslam Baig regarding the proposed trial of Musharraf as baseless.

Rashid, however, expressed the confidence that all state institutions will work in their constitutional ambit' hence avoiding any confrontation, the report added.
