The federal government in Pakistan has requested the Supreme Court to bring forward the hearing for its appeal against the alleged Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi's suspension of the detention order.
Lakhvi was initially granted bail by an anti-terror court in December 2014. Later, the government detained him under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
Lakhvi's detention was then challenged and later overturned by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), reported the Express Tribune.
Subsequently, an application seeking suspension of the IHC's order in the apex court was moved by Advocate on Record Muhammad Siddiqui Khan Baloch on behalf of the interior ministry regarding the early hearing of the case.
The federal government had earlier said that the accused along with other miscreants will likely cause damage to government's key installations and public important places which would destroy peach within the federal government.
