The Pakistan Government has decided in principle to restore Youtube, Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed has revealed.

In an interview, Rasheed said that the government acknowledged the site as a source of information, but it was also being used to publish objectionable material.

According to the Express Tribune, Pakistan was earlier delaying uplifting the YouTube ban, even as it gets the missing filters to block offensive content online.

YouTube was blocked in September 2012 after the controversial film 'Innocence of Muslims' went viral in Pakistan.
