The father, brother and cousin of Farzana Iqbal who was stoned to death in an apparent 'honour killing' have been handed death sentences by Pakistan's Lahore High Court today.
Farzana Parveen had married Muhammad Iqbal against her family's wish and they stoned her to death in the name of ' honour killing', although the woman was three months pregnant.
According to the Express Tribune, defence lawyer Mansoor Afridi said that an anti-terrorism court today gave its decision on the case and handed death sentence to Farzana's father Iqbal, brother Zahid Iqbal and cousin Jahan Khan.
Afridi added that the verdict was based on "sensationalism".
The state prosecutor was not available for comment immediately.
