Days after Pakistani authorities sealed the office of international non-governmental organisation Save the Children in Islamabad, the Islamic Republic's Interior Ministry has suspended its own order, making way for the aid group to resume operations in the country 'until any further orders'.
Authorities had directed the aid group on June 11 to leave Pakistan, saying the charity "was working against the country". Police had placed a lock on the charity's office and put up a notice saying that the building had been sealed. A three-line notification from the federal interior ministry had said that all the expatriate staff be sent back to their countries within 15 days, reported the Dawn.
In 2012, a Pakistan intelligence report had linked the group to Pakistani doctor Shakeel Afridi, who assisted the CIA to confirm Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden's whereabouts by conducting a fake vaccination programme in Abbottabad.
