Pakistan's United Jihad Council (UJC), a conglomerate of Kashmiri mujahideen groups, has said they are ready to hold talks with India and enter into a "purposeful process", provided Kashmir is acknowledged as a disputed territory.

The Dawn quoted UJC Secretary General Shaikh Jamilur Rehman, as saying that "if India acknowledges Kashmir as a dispute with some international guarantee and invites Jihad Council for talks, we are ready to enter into a purposeful process".

Rehman's statement came during a visit to the office of Capital Journalists Forum (CJF).

Rehman said they also needed to keep a watch on what he termed "India's double dealings".

He added that the struggle in Kashmir did not have anything to do with worldly gains and that it was an ideological movement.
