Pakistani Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has confirmed in an ISPR statement that six hardened terrorists have been given death penalty post being tried by the recently established military courts.
The director general of military's media wing, Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, said that seven terrorists were tried by military courts established under the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Act, 2015, for their involvement in heinous offences related to terrorism, manslaughter, causing colossal damage to life and property, suicide bombing and abduction for ransom, reported the Dawn.
The terrorists were handed death penalty in view of the gravity of the offences committed by them. Another terrorist was given life imprisonment by military courts.
General Sharif said that the convicts had the right to appeal against the ruling.
Those awarded death sentence include Noor Saeed, Haider Ali, Murad Khan, Inayatullah, Israr uddin and Qari Zahir.
