Pakistan paramilitary forces have seized over 100 tonnes of bomb-making chemicals and detonators during a raid on a truck inside a warehouse in Balochistan capital Quetta.

The Daily Times quoted paramilitary Colonel Maqbool Ahmed, as saying that ten persons had been arrested during the raid.

Earlier, two men were arrested after they were found driving a truck containing 15 tons of potassium chlorate.

The arrested drivers told their investigators that the potassium and ammonium chlorate were packed with wires and detonators into vehicles inside the compound.

Balochistan province has borne the brunt of bomb attacks by the Taliban and faced frequent incidents of sectarian violence, mostly between the Sunni and Shia Muslim communities.

A separatist insurrection by the Baloch Liberation Army has also been demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from the region's mineral resources since 2004.
