Pakistani religious scholar and politician Maulana Sami ul Haq has said that peace in the nation is unlikely without talks with the Taliban.

Haq, who is also regarded as the 'father of Taliban' denounced the Peshawar church blast that killed 84 people, and said Islam safeguards the rights of the minorities, Dawn News reports.

However, he believes that if drone attacks are carried out on people, they will be forced to carry out suicide attacks, the report added.

He further added that the decision of meeting Taliban would be reviewed once Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returned to the country.

Meanwhile, he supported the government's initiative of peace talks with the Taliban as a positive move, and said the efforts should not be dropped to facilitate a war waged by others.
