Irfan Siddiqui, Special Assistant on National Affairs to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, said that no backchannel communication was taking place between the government and the PTI.
Siddiqui said no one has been formally mandated to hold any talks, adding that matters needed to be resolved in accordance with the law.
He said that while PTI chief Imran Khan had the right to demand Nawaz's resignation, the prime minister had the right to decide whether or not to resign, the Dawn reported.
Backing the Pakistani PM, Siddiqui said the PML-N has the majority in Parliament, which has chosen Nawaz as the prime minister.
He also deemed Imran's demand for the dissolution of the Election Commission of Pakistan as absurd.
Siddiqui said that Pakistan has a Constitution and laws and all demands made by any individual or party must go through that sieve otherwise it will become the law of the jungle in the country, the report added.
