Pak PM Sharif discusses situation at LoC

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting here on Thursday to discuss the ongoing border skirmishes between New Delhi and Islamabad at the Line of Control (LoC).

The meeting was attended by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Director General ISI Zaheerul Islam, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz among others.

According to reports in the Express Tribune, there was a discussion on the repeated instances of ceasefire violations at the LoC and the ongoing military operation against militants in North Waziristan during the meeting.

The Pakistani Inter Services Public Relations had released a statement earlier in the day, which claimed that 21 militants had been killed in the Tirah Valley of North Waziristan.

Eight Indian civilians and a reported nine Pakistanis have been killed since security forces from both sides started heavy shelling along the International Border in Kashmir.

Almost 20,000 Indian civilians have fled their homes in the Jammu region to escape the fighting.
