The chief minister of Pakistan's Punjab Province, Shahbaz Sharif, arrived in New Delhi on Thursday, with an aim to ease tensions between his country and India.
Shahbaz Sharif was invited by his counterpart in East Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal.
"I have come here with noble wishes. Both nations should together resolve its issues and live in harmony," said Sharif.
Sharif is likely to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma during his stay.
Aiming to solve the power situation in his state, Sharif would also be touring a Solid Waste Management Project and the New Delhi Mahatma Gandhi Thermal Power Plant.
He is also slated to visit several cities in Indian Punjab.
Tensions have been prevailing between the two nations after regular violations of 2003 ceasefire agreement by Pakistan in Kashmir since August this year.
