Pakistan has refuted allegations made by senior Afghan officials accusing Pakistani troops of conducting attacks in civilian clothes in areas of Afghanistan's Kunar province.

According to Dawn, a statement issued by Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam warned the Afghan government to refrain from taking any action that may be detrimental to peace and stability on the border.

Aslam said that Pakistan's armed forces were repeatedly attacked by terrorists operating from the Afghan territory, and added that the country's armed forces acted only in self-defence, with maximum restraint and responsibility.

She said that while Pakistan was constantly making efforts to address the issue of terrorism, baseless allegations on the part of Afghanistan undermined the efforts for constructive engagement between the two countries.

Aslam further added that Pakistan army would neither be deterred from addressing the challenges at hand, nor from building a friendly and cooperative relationship with the people of Afghanistan.
