In a veiled attack on the United States, Pakistan has urged the UN Human Rights Council to respond to loss of lives, human rights violations and breach of its territorial sovereignty due to the drone attacks in the country.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan's permanent representative at the UN, Tehmina Janjua, while peaking at a meeting of the council in Geneva pointed out that the drone strikes were also a violation of the UN charter and international law, including human rights and humanitarian law, reports Dawn.

Islamabad said it has time and again reiterated that the use of armed drones or remotely-piloted aircraft was a breach of human rights, particularly the non-derogable right.

Ambassador Janjua also asked the international community and the Human Rights Council to take notice of human rights violations taking place as a result of illegal drone strikes in the country.
