The Nawaz government will wait for an appropriate time to restart peace talks with Pakistani Taliban, which could take a few months.
The comments were made by Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir Hussain.
In an exclusive interview with the BBC, Hussain said that the Taliban was angry at the moment and talks were not possible until they calm down.
According to Dawn News, Tanvir said that he hoped an attempt will be made in a couple of month's time.
He said that military action would be used as a last resort as the government wants to give peace a chance, adding that despite Taliban's rejection, the government will continue pursuing the path of negotiations.
The statement came after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told the National Assembly that the government virtually shelved, for now, its plan to revive a disrupted peace effort with Taliban insurgents, the report added.
