A large number of civilians have reportedly started moving out of North Waziristan following the Pakistan Army's decision to launch a military operation against terrorists and insurgents in the region.

According to reports from Mirranshah, expecting an escalation of violence, two-thirds of families have fled from the region to other agencies in Pakistan.

Others are heading for Afghanistan where they have relatives.

The region is under curfew, which the authorities said would be relaxed in the next couple of days to allow residents to leave the area.

Several displaced families are heading for Gorbaz District in Afghanistan's Khost Province.

Meanwhile, imams have been asking people to recite from the Quran and pray to God for the safety of those who have remained behind.
