A Pakistan Islamic charity has sent six trucks of relief material for refugees in Bannu, who have been displaced by the Pakistan Army's Ooperation Zarb-i-Azb to oust Taliban militants from North Waziristan.

The Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF), a charity linked to Jamaat-ud-Dawa, has sent the aid.

The relief goods consisted mostly of dry rations.

In an interaction with the media in Islamabad on Friday, Hafiz Abdul Rauf, the chairman of the Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF), said the dry rations would be distributed among 5000 families. He also said that the refugees would be provided with medical facilities, and added that so far, 12000 persons have received medical aid.

Operation Zarb-i-Azb has been on since June 15. Nearly 840,000 people have reportedly been displaced by the ongoing offensive against militants in North Waziristan.

The Nawaz Sharif Government says that displaced families are getting food and cash and that problems with registration are being ironed out.

The World Food Program has given food for more than 400,000 people. The army has also given out rations.
