Pakistan has released 113 Indian fishermen following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to his Pakistani counterpart on Tuesday to offer Ramazan wishes.

According to The Express Tribune, the fishermen were put on a train from Karachi to Lahore from where they will cross back to India.

The fishermen had been kept in a jail in Karachi for nine months to a year.

The jail chief Mohammad Hussain Sehto said that 113 fishermen were released on the orders of the government.

The release of Indian fishermen came following PM Modi's announcement in an apparent icebreaking move that the detained Pakistani fishermen will be released.

President of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum Muhammad Ali Shah said that around 200 Pakistani fishermen were to be released.
