Pakistan-India working group resumes dialogue over ways to improve trade across LoC

The Joint Working Group (JWG) from Pakistan and India are set to resume dialogue in New Delhi to discuss ways and means to improve the modalities regarding trade across the LoC.

The JWG, which is meeting after a lapse of one-and-a-half-years, will also review the current status of the confidence building measures (CBM).

The meeting will also review the current status of the CBMs that are in place and give its recommendations.

According to the Express Tribune, Director General (South Asia) Ministry of Foreign Affairs Riffat Masood will lead the Pakistani delegation, while Joint Secretary (PAI) Ministry of External Affairs Rudrendra Tandon will head the Indian side.

 

Trade and travel across the LoC had intil now been suspended following the alleged discovery of some narcotics in one of the trucks from the AJK side on January 15.

The last meeting was held in July 2012 in Islamabad.
