A Pakistani court has reportedly issued a fresh arrest warrant against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, rejecting his plea to go abroad for medical treatment.
The former dictator suffered chest pain while on the way to his treason trial on January 2, derailing the scheduled hearings.
According to the BBC, prosecutors have argued that his medical condition was not serious enough for him to avoid appearing before judges.
Musharraf has since been admitted at the military-run Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi and his lawyers have argued that the country doesn't have the modern support system required to treat him for his heart-related illness.
Meanwhile, the former dictator has maintained that all the accusations against him were politically motivated.
The report said that the arrest warrant issued against him is 'bailable', which means he could avoid arrest if he files a bail application on time.
Musharraf also faces separate charges of murder and restricting the judiciary and if he is found guilty for the treason charges related to his decision in 2007 to suspend the constitution and impose emergency rule, he could be sentenced to death or life imprisonment, the report added.
