Pakistan named most dangerous country for media in 2014

Pakistan has been named as the most dangerous country for media with 14 journalists killed in the country in 2014, according to the International Federation of Journalists.

According to Dawn News, the number of journalists who died due to bomb attacks, targeted killings or shootings in 2014 rose from 105 in 2013 to 118 this year in Pakistan.

Another 17 died in natural disasters or accidents while on assignment, according to the Brussels-based organisation, which calls itself the world's largest journalists' body.

Pakistan was followed by Syria where 13 journalists were killed in 2014.

Around eight journalists were killed in Iraq and Ukraine including American journalist James Foley and Steven Sotloff.
