Former Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Raj Kadyan (Retired) today said that Pakistan is not creating an environment which is conducive for productive dialogue.
Lt. Gen, Kadyan told ANI, "Basit Saheb is a diplomat and they are trained to talk in diplomatic language. He will say the problem is between India and Pakistan, they need to sit together, have a dialogue, talk on the issue.....but talking on the issue can only happen if there is an environment for the same, and if Pakistan allows such an environment to be created. Forget about the talks with the separatist leaders, we have been witnessing constant ceasefire violation in the past two weeks, and this has never happened before".
"There are some miscreants in that country who do not want peace in the region. These people were there and will continue to be there. Most of these miscreants are from the army. The army does not want things between India and Pakistan to be fine. Even if a time comes when the Kashmir problem is solved, Pakistan and India's relation will never be fine," he added.
Emphasizing on talks to be held at the official level, Lt. Gen. Kadyan said "If Pakistan wants good relations with us, they should talk to us. These separatists leaders, the Hurriyat leaders, they are our countrymen... why should Pakistan talk to them?"
During the celebration of Pakistan's 68th Independence Day at Pakistan High Commission, Abdul Basit had said, "I would also like to extend moral and diplomatic support to people of Jammu and Kashmir in their legitimate struggle, which is enshrined in UN charter and universal declaration of human rights".
