Pakistan has reportedly opposed the creation of new permanent seats in the 15-member Security Council of the United Nations.
Pakistan's envoy to the UN Masood Khan said that there should be no new centers of privilege in the UN assembly and stressed on a dynamic reform that carries the interests of all, instead of the ambitions of a few, the Express Tribune reports.
Masood further added that Pakistan would respect and understand Africa's collective demand for the continent's enhanced role in the Council.
The statement came at the UN General Assembly that concluded a two-day debate on reforms.
Masood also blamed the G-4 countries, which includes Brazil, India, Germany and Japan, for pushing for permanent seats in the council and trying to impose their position on the membership because of their political stature and economic prowess.
