Pakistan has said American suspicions about the security and safety measures of the country's nuclear installations and arsenals are baseless.

The National Command Authority (NCA), which controls the nation's nuclear installations, has told Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that the country's nuclear assets are completely safe.

According to the Daily Times, Director of Strategic Planning Division General Khalid Kidwai briefed Sharif at a NCA meeting on the safety measures taken to secure nuclear arsenals.

Sharif refuted the possibility of any prospective attacks on their nuclear facilities, the report added.

The statement came after the media disclosed that the U.S. had intensified its surveillance of Pakistan's nuclear programmes based on documents from whistleblower Edward Snowden.
