Pakistan forces have violated the ceasefire for a third time late on Thursday night, targeting Border Security Force (BSF) outposts along the International Border in Jammu.

According to media reports, 12 Chenab Rangers of Pakistan, stationed at Jarwal Post across the International Border, resumed targeting the Pittal BSF Border Outpost (BoP) in the Arnia forward area in R S Pura Sector in Jammu around 11 p.m. last night with light and heavy arms.

BSF troops, guarding the border, retaliated with equal calibre arms and mortars. The exchange of fire continued till 4.30 a.m. this morning.

However, no loss of life or any other damage has been reported so far.

The BSF on Thursday said it would retaliate to the latest ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir if Pakistan Rangers violated the ceasefire again.

One Wednesday, one BSF personnel was killed and three BSF personnel were injured in cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir.

Following the incident, Director General of BSF, D.K. Pathak, went to inspect the area along with his convoy and said the situation is presently under control.

"Nothing is happening right now.

When asked what kind of instructions (on action) your personnel would be approved of taking in the view of firing from across?, Pathak said: " We will retaliate.
