A Pakistani businessman, who plans to build a 14-story cross in Karachi, hopes it will be a source of comfort and inspiration for the country's Christian population, who often face persecution and violence.
The cross is being constructed at the entrance to the largest Christian burial ground in Karachi, the Gora Qabristan Cemetery, which is located in the southern part of the city. Made of concrete and steel, the structure will be the largest in Asia, with a 40-foot wide crosspiece, reported Fox News.
Parvez Henry Gill, part of Pakistan's small Christian minority, said that when God came to him in a dream, he got the idea of erecting a cross that will symbolize God and inspire Christians to remain in
Pakistan.
Christians comprise just 1.5 percent of Pakistan's 180 million-strong population, 90 percent of which is constituted by Muslims.
