Security experts on Thursday condemned the attack on Paris-based satire magazine Charlie Hebdo and said that the way the operation was carried out,it seemed the attackers were professionally trained.

"It seems like a close-knit group that has indulged in such activities. The way the operation was conducted, it seems they were highly trained," said security expert Qamar Agha.

Responding to the reports of one of the gunmen surrendering, Agha said, "It is good that he has surrendered, but the incident has created a big problem for Muslims living not only in France, but in all Western European nations. The differences between the West and the Islamic world will continue and the gap between the two will be widened further."

Major General (retired) S R Sinho said the young lot is getting motivated by radical idealism.

"This young lot has got motivated by radical idealism. This office has been under threat for a very long time. The office was also attacked at different places earlier also, after which they changed their location," said Sinho.

"They were also provided with a lot of security by police in the form of electronic gadgets and things like that. But in spite of that, these people were able to enter and carry out the task of assassinating 12 people including two policemen," he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, gunmen entered the offices of Charlie Hebdo and opened fire. According to reports, 12 people, including two police officers were killed in the attack, with five others seriously wounded.

Charlie Hebdo has reportedly been facing threats after it published a series of cartoon depicting Prophet Muhammad in 2011 and more recently, ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
