Paris Hilton has denied posting a tweet confused the late Nelson Mandela for famous American civil rights crusader Martin Luther King Jr.

The 32-year-old socialite has angrily denied that she wrote the tweet and posted on Twitter, "Whoever made that stupid fake tweet lacks respect to the loss the world is mourning right now. Same goes for all the blogs who ran with it", the Daily Star reported.

"I'm so sick of people lying about me and using my name. Please get a life and stop talking about mine. It's beyond #URPathetic #GetYourOwnLife", she added.

An embarrassing tweet which seemed to be from her personal account had appeared online which read, "RIP Nelson Mandela. Your 'I Have A Dream' speech was so inspiring. An amazing man".
