Parliament adjourned till noon over Telangana, Kishtwar violence

The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till noon on Monday, after some members in both houses did not allow proceedings to commence.

In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Meira Kumar managed to deliver an obituary notice before being forced to adjourn proceedings after some members moves towards the Well of the House with demands for maintaining a united Andhra Pradesh and not to go ahead with the formation of the state of Telangana. Members also demanded an explanation for the violence in Kashmir.

The Rajya Sabha had to be adjourned twice-once shortly after 11 a.m. and again at 11.25 a.m. after it recovened with Chairman Mohammad hamid Ansari in the chair.

 

The Rajya Sabha chairman had given permission to Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley to address the house, but some members indulged in repeated sloganeering over the violence in Kashmir, forcing the former to adjourn proceedings.
