Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday called for constituting a parliamentary committee to investigate allegations of money laundering to India levelled by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

According to The Nation, Abbasi made this demand in the National Assembly.

The daily quoted him, as saying that the committee should ask the NAB Chairman and other officials for evidence and relevant records that supports their allegations that Sharif money laundered over four billion dollars to India as reported by Radio Pakistan yesterday.

He described the allegations as extremely serious and bring a bad name to Pakistan.

Abbasi also urged the opposition to consider bringing amendments to the accountability law. The NAB, he said, is a creation of military dictators and now needs to be amended to be seen to delivering justice and playing its due role against corruption.
