Criticising the detractor opposition the demonetisation of Rs. 500 and 1000 currency notes, Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said the move can only be opposed by the one's having black money or who are somehow involved in corruption.

"Parties involved in corruption and have black money will oppose this decision. They are not talking in favour of people but for themselves," Goyal told ANI.

He further said that some parties always object the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and condemn the Centre's decisions, despite the fact that people are supporting it.

"This decision has been taken to bring down black money and terror funding. This step has far reaching consequences," he said.

Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday announced that the government had decided to demonetize Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes to tackle the menace of black money.

Meanwhile, with the ATMs opening today nearly 48 hours post Prime Minister Modi's radical announcement, long queues made by anxious citizens were seen across the nation with the new currency notes available for withdrawal.

The withdrawal limit is of 2,000 rupees per day per card for all the customers at bank ATMs.
