Appealing to all political parties to ensure a smooth functioning of Parliament, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday said the support of political parties on key bills should be clear and sincere.
"The speaker has appealed to all the political parties that all efforts should be made to make this session of the 15th Lok Sabha a historic one. I repeat that these last 12 days of the session should be memorable," Nath said after the All Party Meeting convened by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha Meira Kumar.
"The parties should support the anti corruption bills. There should not be fake support. Whether the bill is related to anti corruption measure or the Telangana, the support should be clear and sincere. There is no scope for 'if' and 'but'," he added.
Reacting to rumours that there might disruptions in the Parliament regarding to the issue of Telangana, Nath said, "The government and the other parties should make an effort for the smooth functioning of Parliament. Political Parties should appeal to others that the issue of Telangana is tied. At one side there is Seemandhara and on the other side there is Telangana. The issue will only be solved when Parliament decides on it. It will not be settled by disrupting the parliament."
The two week long session will began from tomorrow.
On Monday, Nath had appealed to all political parties to give the highest priority to anti-corruption bills, without causing disruptions during the last session of the 15th Lok Sabha.
The government has listed 39 bills including 6 anti-graft bills for this session. Bills like the Prevention of Corruption Amendment Bill and the Public Procurement Bill are with the standing committee.
The Whistleblower Protection Bill and the Judicial Standard and Accountability Bill have been passed by the Lok Sabha but they are pending in the Rajya Sabha.
