The Pathankot-Chamba national highway was closed today following a cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh.
There are no reports of any loss of life so far. Meanwhile, the rescue operation is on.
Incessant rains have also caused massive rockslides and blocked the National Highway-5 near the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Shimla. The restoration work is underway.
The Himachal Pradesh Meteorology Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain, thunderstorm and hailstorm warning for the next 24 hours in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur.
Thundersquall with hailstorm at likely to occur at isolated places like Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Most parts of Jammu and Kashmir including Srinagar and Jammu cities, witnessed heavy rains, while some parts in the upper reaches experienced fresh snowfall since yesterday, resulting in considerable drop in the temperature.
The weather in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to improve on April 9.
