Sharad Pawar, who was on Wednesday re-elected as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president, said that the grand alliance comprising the RJD, JD (U), Congress and his party would give wings to the people's desire to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government.
Pawar, who was the union agriculture minister in the former UPA regime, said Bihar has the capacity to give a new direction to the country's politics.
The Maratha strongman further said that his party is pragmatic in its approach and added that it is eager to play out its limited role in the assembly elections slated later this year by working seamlessly to prevent the BJP from coming into power in the state.
Nearly 700 leaders of the NCP from across the country participated in the party's national convention, which took place here.
