The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday said that the decision of choosing an ally to form the government is a hard one, adding that such a decision has to be taken without compromising on the ideology and agenda of the party.

"This is a very complicated situation. Jammu and Kashmir is a very complex state and we need to reach out to every region, every community to have an inclusive government. How we do that without compromising on our ideology and agenda is a great challenge," PDP spokesperson Naeem Akhtar told ANI.

Earlier on Monday, the PDP had expressed confidence about forming the government, stating the same via a tweet from their official twitter handle.

"PDP will get majority of seats to form govt. and will work on the agenda it has promised to voters," it wrote.

Meanwhile, former separatist and People's Conference chairman Sajjad Lone expressed happiness on the current trends but held back on commenting on lending support to either the BJP or the PDP.

"These are just early trends. The counting still in progress, but I am happy. Let us see what happens," he said.

With the counting of the votes underway, the latest reports indicate that the BJP and the PDP are running neck to neck in the state. Meanwhile, the NC seems to have lost ground since the 2008 assembly elections.
