Pearl Academy, an institute for fashion, design and creative business entered into a partnership with Khadi India, as the students performed at the Khadi tableau which was a part of the 68th Republic Day celebrations in Delhi on Thursday.
The students of Pearl Academy adorned themselves in Khadi and performed with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises' (MSME) Tableau. The students showcased the collection of renowned designer Sharee Basu at the tableau and were given an opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who appreciated their efforts.
"Khadi is significant as it's one of the prominent symbols of India's Independence. It was our endeavor to educate our students about the significance of Khadi and I am happy that our students got a chance to be associated with Khadi and be a part of the prestigious republic day parade," said CEO of Pearl Academy, Nandita Abraham.
Pearl Academy students participated in Khadi tableau which was showcased at the parade after eight years. They have been invited to meet the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday.
"I am happy to see that young students of Fashion are showing a keen interest in Khadi. Students of Pearl Academy have been doing good work and I hope this will go a long way in popularizing Khadi among the youth" said Kalraj Mishra Union Cabinet Minister of MSME.
