Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini has urged his side to opt for a balanced approach when they make their Champions League semi-final debut against Real Madrid in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Insisting his side have to play as a unit, Pellegrini suggested City to have hot hearts and cold mind when they face Zinedine Zidane's side, the Mirror reported.

City made an early exit from the Champions League in the past two seasons , with Pellegrini warning his side they could not afford to repeat the same this year.

However, the Chilean manager said that he hopes City would display the same kind of football as they had played in their previous rounds against Paris Saint Germain.

Pellegrini's side will play without midfielder Yaya Toure, who failed to recover from a thigh injury sustained during his side's 4-0 win over Stoke City on Saturday.
