A pensioner stayed alive trapped for three days by sipping raindrops, after his car upturned as it plunged down a ravine.
Alastair McFadyen, whose car was half-submerged in the river, gathered rain in a handkerchief and dabbed it on his lips, as the water was too far away to drink and he was invisible from the road, the Mirror reported.
The 77-year-old retired historian was found by chance by local, who came to the area in search of mushrooms.
He is now recuperating in the hospital.
