The Pentagon is reportedly relying on an experimental deep web tool to dig out data on Islamic State group and its supporters.
According to the Washington Times, Arati Prabhakar, a physicist and director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), disclosed some information about the tool, known as Memex, while speaking earlier this at a Washington, D.C. conference put on by the New America Foundation.
Prabhakar said Tuesday of a Dallas demonstration of the technology, Military.com that her colleagues working with the law enforcement were taken aback by how rich that data set was.
She said that through this tool, it was possible to see how the ever-expanding IS group was using that infrastructure similarly.
