Lauding Uttar Pradesh Government's initiative to incorporate yoga as a part of their compulsory education system, Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister (MSME) Kalraj Mishra on Friday said people associating it with religion have a very narrow mindset, and added that it is universal and beneficial for all.

"The people raising question on this have a very narrow mindset. These kinds of people always see politics everywhere. Yoga is not inspired by any religion, caste or creed. This is universal and is beneficial for everyone," Mishra told ANI.

Mishra added that yoga keeps the mind, body and soul balanced adding that if this recommendation is implemented then it will be beneficial.

On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed state education officials to ensure that a yoga education programme is made compulsory in all government schools.

The state government has also decided to provide self-defence training for girl students in state-run schools.
