A new study has revealed that people in in high-stress offices were more likely to need or more off work a year.

The study on more than 7000 people has found those in high-stress offices were more likely to need two weeks or more off work a year and experience symptoms like chest pain, nausea and shortness of breath, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Study author Sam Harvey said that it wasn't just overwork that seemed to be making people feel sick, but how much control they had over their job, but at a simple level, it's about how much control you have over the every day, minute by minute in your job.

He added that at a broader level it's about how much control you have in an organisation and your ability to point out problems and come up with solutions.
