Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Wednesday lashed out at Uttar Pradesh Minister Azam Khan for writing to the UN on 'communal incidents', saying that people should withdraw from such theatrics, as India has adequate means to redress such problems.
"Whatever redress we need is from within India. We have enough flora for that redress, we are a proud democracy with functioning institutions, unlike our neighbors. I think all of us should withdraw from this 'drame baazi' of writing to international agencies when we have the adequate means of redressing them from within," Singhvi told ANI.
"It is a well known fact that extremism of any kind is a mirror to extremism of another kind. I think people must understand that India with all its faults is a functioning, vital and vibrant, democracy," he added.
Amid a political blame game over the lynching of a 50-year-old Muslim man in Dadri, senior UP minister Azam Khan sought the intervention of the United Nations to look into the 'miseries' of the minorities in India.
In a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Khan also accused the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) of planning to convert a "secular and pluralistic India" into a "majoritarian theocratic nation as Hindu Rashtra.
