Reacting to the statement made by former Janata Dal United JD (U) leader N.K Singh, party leader Sharad Yadav on Saturday said that such people made such false comments during the time of elections.

"Such people make up many statements at the time of elections, this is not something new. But such lies will completely destroy the democracy," said Yadav.

"Now whatever the Sangh would suggest will happen. Our first front will form government and not the NDA," he said.

JD (U) leader Rajeev Ranjan said that whatever Singh had said was a result of his frustration.

"Neither the party has diverted for development nor has there been any change in the selection process. This is a product of his frustration," said Ranjan.

"As far as diverting from development issue is concerned, it is a hilarious accusation," he said.

Singh on Saturday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, and said that only the latter was capable of bringing a strong and stable government.

"The country needs a strong and stable government who people can trust and the BJP is one such party which is capable of doing that," said Singh.

On Friday, Singh had announced that he was leaving JD (U) after being denied a re-nominated ticket to the Rajya Sabha. He had also indicated that he was in close touch with the BJP.

Singh had said that since JD (U) broke ties with the BJP last year the issue of development has taken a back seat.

He said he had told the Chief Minister that his government was now more focussed on political survival rather than development of the State.
