Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday criticized Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi over the Gujarat riots saying that the perpetrators of the riots can never be forgiven.

"In 2002, thousands of people were killed. Whatever happened is an incident that cannot be forgotten by people of Gujarat and the nation and the criminals of this crime can never be forgiven," said Kumar.

Taking a jibe at Modi and his development model for Gujarat, Kumar said that Modi makes tall claims but the real picture was quite different.

"We don't say that we are developed but we want to become a developed state. We want to go ahead. But those people (Modi) who say that their area is developed, it is not true as schools are not well maintained and condition of roads and hospitals is not good. This in no way can be called development or a developed state. I pity on such a development," Kumar added.
