Condemning yesterday's terror attack in Peshawar and expressing shock over the killing of innocent school children, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Wednesday said he has never seen or heard in his life that people could be so inhuman.

"I have never seen or heard in my life that people can so inhuman and brutal that they can descend to such low levels of beasty behavior and target innocent children in a school. This is something which really shocked and stunned the entire nation and I think I am also greatly shocked and pained by this," said Doval, who visited the Pakistan High Commission in the national capital and wrote a condolence message over the Peshawar attack.

"Here it's not a question of what lesson should India learn by this but it's for the whole world to understand that such things should be condemned by everyone," he added.

He also extended his condolences to Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit.

India has offered all possible help to Pakistan in the wake of yesterday's massacre in the Army-run school in Peshawar where 141 people including 132 students and nine staff members were killed in a terror attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke with his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif over telephone late last evening and strongly condemned the brutal terrorist attack. The Prime Minister said the people of India shared the heart-rending pain and sorrow of the bereaved families and stood with them in solidarity in this hour of immeasurable grief.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Taliban spokesman said that it was a revenge for the military's operation against militants in the North Waziristan tribal area.
