A wildlife filmmaker, who will be eaten alive by an anaconda in order to test out a custom-made "snake-proof suit" for a controversial new TV stunt, has been slammed by animal rights organisation PETA.

A spokesman, who finds this publicity stunt sound far-fetched and also lethal for the snake, said that shame on this pseudo "wildlife expert" for tormenting and likely killing an animal for a thrill, and shame on the Discovery Channel for giving him the incentive to do it.

The spokesman added that whatever the filmmaker has planned, the snake will likely pay the ultimate price, as animals usually do when they're used for entertainment.

The show received mixed reactions on twitter as some found it "craziest but cool" thing to get eaten by a snake, while others found it "totally unnecessary" and a "disgusting display of animal cruelty."

The upcoming programme that features the 30-year-old Paul Rosolie entering the belly of a gigantic snake is due to air on December 7, 2014.
