Petrol pump dealers in Haryana have gone on an indefinite strike against the hike in VAT on diesel.
According to reports, around 2,300 fuel pumps have stopped selling petrol and diesel to consumers.
The dealers have demanded that the tax imposed on diesel should be lowered by one to two percent than the rates prevailing in neighboring states. They have also demanded the removal of five percent surcharge on VAT and landing cost of crude oil at Panipat refinery from the state government.
The fuel pumps owned by oil companies like Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL are, however, open.
